Ground nutmeg has a distinctive pungent fragrance and a warm, delicately sweet taste.

Ground nutmeg can be used to flavour many kinds of baked goods, curries, confections, puddings, potatoes, meats, sauces and vegetables, as well as drinks like eggnog.
