Javantri has a nutmeg aroma with a hint of cloves, caramel and a subtle bitter note.
Javantri or Mace is the outer casing of the nutmeg, which is removed, dried and then ground into a powder a highly desired spice as was one just discarded during harvest.
Used in a number of spicy Caribbean and Indian dishes.
- Add to desserts and bakes, especially chocolate, for a sweet and sour taste
- Can be ground and blended with other spices to make Garam Masala
- Also used in herbal tea
