Perfect for adding to seasonings, marinades and it can be even used to flavour casseroles, Juniper berries have a distinct pine-like, spicy and aromatic taste that adds a depth of flavour to meal times. Grind it down and use it as a rub for vegetables and tofu or use in cake making.
Despite the name and appearance of juniper berries, they are in fact considered a spice and are ethically sourced. The juniper berry is commonly used in rich and hearty meals such as stews and casseroles.
Once ground down using a pestle and mortar or high-speed blender, it can be used to flavour tofu or vegetables prior to roasting and baking. The ground spice can also be used to add a depth of flavour to gins, baking and jams.
